On February 9th, Professor Gagne accompanied some of our nursing students to the 14th Annual Little Smiles Stars Ball at the West Palm Beach Convention Center.

Each year nurses and social workers who work with Little Smiles of Florida nominate children to receive special recognition for their extraordinary bravery, character, and talent. Little Smiles holds a gala for these young Stars that is modeled after a Hollywood awards ceremony. They are our Stars for a day complete with gowns, tuxedos, makeovers and the full red-carpet treatment. The children arrive in special vehicles escorted by the police and fire department. They walk down the red carpet to flashing lights as guests request their signature, just as they would for a Hollywood star. The evening’s program features a plated dinner, live music, dancing, live and silent auction, award presentation and more.

This year, our students were selected to participate in this ball due to all the work and volunteering that the School of Nursing has done with Little Smiles over the past few years. Each one of our students was given a star to escort for the entirety of the night. Our students loved this experience and gained new friends during this night of laughter, dancing, and good fun.
