On Thursday May 10th of 2018, more than 300 people attended Palm Health Care Foundation’s fifth annual “Heart of Gold” nursing reception at the Kravis Center. This event honors both outstanding local nurses and concludes the foundation’s six-week long “Thank A Nurse” campaign.

The evening was emceed by CBS 12 meteorologist Michael Ehrenberg and featured speeches by Palm Health care Foundation President and CEO Pat McNamara, Good Samaritan Medical Center Chief Nursing Officer Cheryl Wild, and Gayle Stevens, RN, volunteer manager at VITAS Healthcare.

Palm Health care Foundation’s 17 “Nurses of the Year” each received a gift certificate good for Sunday brunch for two at The Breakers Palm Beach.

The nurse honorees are: Barbara Bzura, of Ascension Catholic Church/Catholic Charities; Katie Clark, of Palm Beach Atlantic University; Peter Gonzales, of JFK Medical Center; Karen Gull edge, of Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations; Toni Harris, of Palms West Hospital; Mary “Patti” Joyce, of Children’s Medical Services; Mark Lefco, of St. Mary’s Medical Center; Marge McManus, of Good Samaritan Medical Center; Cheryl Morkan, of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center; Inez Nascimento, of Delray Medical Center; Jessica Patino, of VITAS Healthcare; Norma Reyes, of the VA Medical Center; Nuvia Rodriguez Machado, of CL Brumback Primary Care Clinic; Julie Smith, of West Boca Medical Center; Constance Upshaw, of Palm Beach County Department of Health; Karen Wisdom-Chambers, of Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at FAU; and Latoya Wright, of Trust bridge.
